Home of Sacred Belongings

The Squaxin Island Tribe‘s Home of Sacred Belongings Museum Library and Research Center provides a rare glimpse into the lives of the people who hail from the South Puget Sound area.

Because of their unique and intense personal relationship with the inland Salish Sea and its aquatic inhabitants, they are also known as “The People of the Water.”

The museum is located at the “Gateway to the Olympic Peninsula” mid-way between Olympia and Shelton on Highway 101. If you are planning a trip visit the Quileute tribe of the Twilight series, you might want to start your adventure at Squaxin Island. Friendly tribal members provide a gracious introduction to Coast Salish culture at the award winning museum!
